My second plugin
I'm slowly getting the hang of it. After the overwhelming success of my first plugin, here comes my second one. Created with just as much love, it helps you avoid 404 errors in a smart way. Isn't that just wonderful?
What is it good for?
If your visitors mistype or want to visit your website for some other reason but enter the wrong link, for example /contct instead of /contact, they will usually see an ugly 404 error page. Sometimes there is a link to the homepage, sometimes not even that. So now you can build a beautiful 404 page or simply install URL Pathfinder. The plugin looks at what the visitor might have meant and takes them to their destination. How does it work? All existing posts and pages are scanned and compared with the incorrect entry. The most suitable destination is the winner. Bye bye 404!
The Vision
Once installed, the plugin runs automatically. There are no configuration options. It just works. No fuss. Really. Not enough for you? Want to be able to change the threshold value in the Damerau–Levenshtein distance algorithm from 2 to 3 yourself? Hmm, that would be awesome, of course. The plan is to develop an extended version for people like you, which will allow you to tweak all kinds of settings. Maybe there will even be a log or coloured buttons. Let's see how much demand there is.
